A lot of people ask me how we get our Wimberg gardens so lush. One trick, let go. I was checking on Peter Wimberg’s garden and saw the perfect illustration of this practice.
By letting upright verbena reseed, he now has lovely purple flowers intermingled with the grasses. In the shade garden, where we mulch with pine straw, baby plants, such as pulmonaria and ferns emerge. Often nature adds plants in places we would not, giving the garden a natural look that is difficult to achieve by planting it all ourselves. So, take a step back, see what reseeds and what volunteers in a way to benefit your garden. ~Jennifer
